$20 Owned Cat Spay/Neuter Special

FACE RECEIVES GRANT FOR MORE THAN $50,000 FROM PETSMART CHARITIES®

Lifesaving grant will help fund low-cost spay and neuter services in high-need areas of Indianapolis to reduce the rate of pet euthanasia

Indianapolis, Ind. FACE Low-Cost Animal Clinic announced today that it has been awarded a grant from PetSmart Charities – the leading funder of animal welfare in North America – to support spay and neuter services for owned cats in high-need zip codes.

“Cats, over the course of their lifetime, will fluctuate from house cat to community cat and vice versa, particularly in urban and transient areas,” said Ellen Robinson, executive director of FACE.  “By targeting areas where residents may not be able to afford traditional spay/neuter, we can serve as a safety net for these families and cats while reducing the incidence of euthanasia at area shelters.”

The initiative will provide spay/neuter services at a reduced fee of $20 for the owner.  Area cat owners residing in the following zip codes are eligible for the program: 46201, 46203, 46205, 46218, 46219, 46221, 46222, 46224, 46226, 46227, or 46241.  FACE anticipates serving 1,500 owned cats through this initiative.  The reduced fees will be available until funding is exhausted.

Providing access to spay/neuter services helps keep the cat and dog population at sustainable levels.  The service fee at FACE Low-Cost Animal Clinic typically ranges from $40 for a cat or $65-$120 for a dog (based on weight).  Appointments can be made by phone at (317) 638-3223 or online using the promo code PETSMART.

FACE’s programs address the needs of Indianapolis companion animals and their families by keeping animals out of shelters and providing a path to freedom should an animal find themselves in the shelter system.  FACE offers low-cost spay/neuter services to keep the animal population at a sustainable level, along with medical and vaccination services to keep companion animals healthy and with their families.

Additionally, FACE’s IndyFeral community cat program manages the humane services of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), keeping cats out of shelters and preventing euthanasia. FACE also leads the semi-annual Indy Mega-Adoption event, which has found homes for nearly 5,000 cats and dogs in central Indiana.

Donations can be made online at www.faceanimalclinic.org or by phone at (317) 939-3223.

PetSmart Charities aims to proactively prevent pet homelessness and assist pets in need through many efforts including facilitating adoption and increasing spay and neuter initiatives.  With the help of animal welfare partners, including FACE, PetSmart Charities has funded more than 1.4 million spay and neuter surgeries in the U.S. since 2009.
